Medical Scribe
Medical Scribe Program Overview
As the use of Electronic Health Records continues to become more widespread in the healthcare industry, the need for Medical Scribes continues to grow. This quickly emerging profession allows the Scribe to work directly with physicians to accurately document all aspects of the patient visit.
This intensive hybrid course will cover the roles and functions of a scribe, as well as medical terminology, coding, use of an EHR, and various progress note formats. Upon completion, students will be prepared to sit for the Apprentice Medical Scribe Professionals (AMSP) Certification exam. Due to the nature of the course and this profession, a typing speed of 35 wpm is strongly encouraged, and computer and internet access are required! This class will be a mix of classroom hours and online work. Be prepared to spend at least 20 hours of time outside of the classroom (online) each week throughout the course.
